🌟 The Future Is Bright: Summer 2025 Vision & Community Update: What’s New at the Studio — Fly Girls, Concrete Roses & Young Flyers 🌟
Hello Flyers, Jet Setters, Fly Babes—All of You Amazing Humans,
I just wanted to take a moment to say a huge thank you for supporting Fly Girls—especially during the summer months. Your continued support truly means the world to me. Even during the quieter periods, we still have all the big bills to cover: rent, staff wages, insurances, taxes, electricity, advertising, equipment, software systems—you name it, it doesn’t stop. So if you’re home, and you're able, please keep showing up for class. Every bit helps keep us flying.
I know so many of you see how hard I work behind the scenes. I’m doing my best to move us toward a future where we don’t have to carry the weight of every slow season alone. I’m working hard on securing grant funding, developing new programs, and building something long-term and sustainable that’s bigger than just one woman teaching six days a week.
Here’s a full look at what’s blooming behind the scenes 🌱

💜 We’ve Started a Charity: Concrete Roses Community
Our new not-for-profit, Concrete Roses, is in its final stages of government registration. Once approved, we’ll be able to apply for grants and funding to bring more movement-based classes to those in need—including pole, aerial, dance, yoga, and therapeutic movement for both youth and elders.
Myself, Chloe S, and Alice will serve as the founding trustees for the first three years, after which new leaders from the community will be nominated in. This ensures the vision remains community-led, rooted in shared values, and never dependent on just one voice.
We’ll be using our studio space during the daytime to run accessible programs for:
Women in need
Elderly people seeking connection and movement
Young carers and teens facing hardship
People living with disabilities
Alternative education providers
Community carers and holistic wellness practitioners
Once we receive funding, we’ll be hiring people like you to teach and share your gifts. So if you work in movement, therapy, arts, care, mindfulness—or you’ve got a brilliant idea to serve the community—please keep in touch. These roles will be paid, and the length of teaching blocks will depend on each grant’s scope (e.g. 6-week to 6-month programs).
🌸 Fly Girls & Concrete Roses — Working Together
Fly Girls will continue to run its usual evening and weekend timetable, while Concrete Roses Community will occupy the daytime hours and any grant-funded spaces.
Our long-term goal is to allow me to reduce my teaching load and give more opportunities to rising instructors like Kaya, who has just graduated with a degree in Musical Theatre, Dance, and Singing from Performers College in Birmingham 🎓✨
Kaya will begin leading our Friday youth curriculum and is training to take over my Monday night classes as well. I’ll stay close during the transition, especially since we’re introducing a brand-new curriculum, and I want everyone to feel supported and confident before I fully step back.
🧭 Fly Girls Instructor Certification + CIMSPA Accreditation
I’m also working to get my instructor training manual CIMSPA accredited (CIMSPA is the governing body for sport and physical activity in the UK). Once approved, our teacher training program will be nationally recognized, and this will help us access even more funding for both Fly Girls and Concrete Roses.
🚀 Youth Program Relaunch: Young Flyers!
We’re building a brand-new website for our youth program, which will now be called Young Flyers—with two age-based divisions:
🌈 Orbit Kids (ages 7–12):
A creative aerial hoop program infused with outdoor play, mindful movement, and hands-on learning.
💫 Ascend: The Only Way is UP! (ages 13–17):
A confidence-building movement and aerial fitness program tailored specifically to teens navigating identity, strength, and self-expression.
We’re also looking to secure funding for young carers, so they can join the program free or at a reduced cost depending on need.
While the new site is under construction, we’ll continue to manage all bookings through GoTeamUp. We’re also planning to add a second aerial hoop class to allow for age separation and better progression, as demand for our kids program continues to grow.

🏫 Fly Girls in Schools? Or should I say… Ascend: The Only Way is UP! has landed at Etone High School!
We’ve got amazing news! Our brilliant Teacher Alice—who also teaches maths at Etone—pitched the idea of a Pole Fitness After-School Club, and guess what? The school said YES! 💪✨
So now, Etone High School officially has its own Pole Society, supported by Ascend: The Only Way is UP! We're bringing strength, confidence, and movement into the school environment in a way that’s fun, safe, and deeply empowering for students.
I mean… how cool is this?! Total Jedi moment 🛸—when the student becomes the teacher, and the movement becomes a mission. We’re so proud.
This is just the beginning. My heart has a big vision—not just for Nuneaton, but for the wider community. With your help, we can grow Fly Girls, build Concrete Roses, and launch Young Flyers into something beautiful, lasting, and meaningful.
Thank you for believing in this dream with me.
Let’s keep flying.
With so much love,
Crystal 💜

👩🏫 MEET THE INSTRUCTORS
Crystal Gibson, founder of Fly Girls Fitness, is a master aerial coach with over 20 years of experience in movement education. Originally from Los Angeles, she has trained and judged internationally and now leads one of the UK’s most welcoming movement studios. Crystal brings warmth, professionalism, and a true passion for helping young people feel confident in their bodies.
Kya Sanders graduated in 2025 from the University of Birmingham’s Performers College with a BA (Hons) in Singing, Dancing & Acting. A certified aerial instructor since 2019 (Spin City), Kya brings infectious energy and a natural connection with kids. Her background in the arts makes every class fun, expressive, and empowering.
💬 Neurodivergence & Inclusion: At FlyKids, we celebrate all kinds of minds and ways of moving through the world. Both of our lead instructors are proudly neurodivergent:
Crystal is diagnosed ADHD, and
Kya is diagnosed AUD (Autism Spectrum / Autistic) we are pretty sure she’s ADHD as well, LOL but undiagnosed).
Their lived experience helps shape a program that honours individuality, creative expression, and sensory awareness. We understand that some children may process the world differently — and we aim to create a space where they feel accepted and supported.
That said, as a small team, we do have limited capacity for one-to-one or high-needs support. If your child has additional medical, behavioural, or sensory support needs, please reach out so we can make sure the environment is a good fit and offer them the care they deserve.
